Skyroo Travels

Package 01 – Sri Lanka Wildlife & Coast Adventure

The flagship Skyroo itinerary – a complete island arc from Colombo south through Galle and the surf coast, into Yala’s leopard country, up through Ella and the highland rail to Nuwara Eliya, across to the Cultural Triangle for Sigiriya and a Minneriya elephant safari, and back to Negombo for a couple of days by the water. Thirteen days, every major region, properly paced.

Day 01 Arrival - Colombo City Introduction

Your Skyroo driver meets you at Bandaranaike Airport and transfers you to Colombo for a first evening in the capital – an orientation walk through the Fort district, the Galle Face Green promenade, and a first proper Sri Lankan meal before the journey south begins tomorrow.

Day 02  Colombo to Galle - UNESCO Fort Exploration

The coastal drive south along the expressway delivers you to Galle in time for a thorough afternoon in the UNESCO-listed Dutch Fort – the rampart walk, the colonial street grid, the galleries and cafes inside the walls, and the lighthouse at the southern tip of the headland. Overnight in Weligama, 20 minutes further down the coast.

Day 03  Weligama - Surfing & Mirissa Whale Coast

A morning surfing session at Weligama’s forgiving bay – whether you’ve surfed before or you’re picking up a board for the first time, this is one of the best beginner breaks in Asia. The afternoon gives you the option of a whale watching excursion from Mirissa Harbour if conditions allow, or a relaxed afternoon at the beach before the drive east tomorrow.

Day 04  Yala National Park - Afternoon Safari

The drive along the southern coast to Yala National Park arrives in time for an afternoon game drive in the golden hour – the most wildlife-active time of day in a park with the world’s highest leopard density. The coastal and scrub habitats of Yala’s western zone deliver extraordinary sighting variety in a landscape of real visual drama.

Day 05 Yala Morning Safari & Drive to Ella

A second game drive at Yala before the scenic drive north through the southern plains and into the highlands – the landscape transition from dry zone scrub to hill country tea estates is one of Sri Lanka’s most dramatic geographic moments. Ella arrives in the late afternoon with enough time for the Nine Arch Bridge and a first look at the highland village.

Day 06  Ella - Nine Arch Bridge & Highland Hikes

A full day in Ella – the Nine Arch Bridge timed to the hill country train’s crossing, the Little Adam’s Peak hike for the Ella Gap panorama, and Ravana Falls on the lower road for a cool-down stop. The village’s cafe scene and relaxed mountain atmosphere make the afternoon an easy one to extend.

Day 07  Scenic Hill Train to Nuwara Eliya & Tea Estate Visit

Asia’s most celebrated hill country train journey from Ella to Nanu Oya – an open-window passage through continuous tea estate scenery and mountain tunnels. The afternoon includes a working tea estate visit and tasting session in the Nuwara Eliya highlands before arriving in ‘Little England.’

Day 08  Kandy Drive - Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic

The scenic highland drive from Nuwara Eliya to Kandy, arriving for a visit to the Sri Dalada Maligawa and an evening Kandyan cultural performance – the theatrical fire-walking, drumming, and Ves dance tradition of the highland kingdom in its full evening form.

Day 09  Sigiriya - Spice Garden Stop & Village Evening

The drive to Sigiriya via Matale’s spice-growing region, arriving in the Cultural Triangle for an evening village walk around the ancient irrigation lakes near the Rock – one of the most atmospheric and least-touristed experiences in the Cultural Triangle, with the great monolith silhouetted against the sunset.

Day 10  Sigiriya Sunrise Ascent & Minneriya Safari

A dawn ascent of Sigiriya Rock Fortress in the best light of the day – the ancient water gardens, the frescoes, and the summit panorama all caught before the heat builds. The afternoon delivers a game drive in Minneriya National Park, where the seasonal Elephant Gathering produces some of the most extraordinary wildlife spectacles available on any Sri Lanka itinerary.

Day 11  Negombo Drive & Lagoon Sunset Walk

The scenic countryside drive from the Cultural Triangle to Negombo, arriving on the west coast in time for a sunset walk along the lagoon – Dutch canals, fishing boats returning, and the golden hour light on the water that makes Negombo’s reputation as a transit town feel seriously undersold.

Day 12  Negombo Beach Day & Optional Lagoon Safari

A full day at your own pace in Negombo – beach time, an optional lagoon boat safari through the Dutch canal network, the fresh seafood that Negombo does better than almost anywhere else on the west coast, and the kind of relaxed last-full-day energy that every trip should build in.

Day 13  Airport Transfer & Departure

Your Skyroo driver transfers you to Bandaranaike International Airport for your departure flight.
