Skyroo Travels

Package 04 – Sri Lanka Coastal Discovery Journey

A journey that stays close to the water – the southwest coast from Negombo south through Bentota, Galle, the surf coast, whale watching grounds, Yala’s coastal park, and Hiriketiya’s hidden bay, with the inland drive back to Colombo as the finale. For travellers who came to Sri Lanka for the coast, the ocean, and the wildlife that lives alongside it.

Day 01 Arrival - Negombo Lagoon & Coastal Start

Airport arrival and Negombo first evening – lagoon walk at sunset, fresh seafood, and the particular easy energy of a coastal town with centuries of fishing history in its bones.

Day 02 Southwest Coast Drive - Bentota & Madu River

The scenic coastal drive south through Sri Lanka’s fishing village coastline to Bentota, with an afternoon Madu River mangrove boat safari – cinnamon island, temple island, kingfisher channels, and the particular ecological beauty of a river system that feels nothing like the tourist coast just outside it.

Day 03 Galle Fort & Weligama Surf Coast

A morning in Galle Fort’s UNESCO-listed colonial streets and ramparts before the drive to Weligama – beach arrival, surf conditions assessed, and an afternoon in the water or on the sand depending on the break.

Day 04 Weligama Surf & Mirissa Viewpoints

A morning surf session at Weligama’s consistent beginner bay, then the short drive to Mirissa’s Coconut Tree Hill for the south coast’s most photogenic viewpoint and an afternoon at one of the bay’s beachside cafes.

Day 05 Mirissa Whale Watching at Dawn

Pre-dawn departure from Mirissa Harbour for the blue whale and spinner dolphin encounter – the most biodiverse cetacean waters in the Indian Ocean at their seasonal best between November and April.

Day 06 Tangalle - Secluded Beaches & Coastal Exploration

The drive along the southern coast past Hiriketiya to Tangalle – exploring the secluded bays and headlands of one of the south coast’s most beautiful and least-crowded stretches.

Day 07 Yala National Park - Coastal Safari Country

Transfer to Yala for an afternoon safari in a national park where the coastal lagoon habitat adds a dimension that the purely inland parks don’t offer – crocodiles on the banks, water birds in extraordinary numbers, and the leopard encounters that make Yala the most famous wildlife destination in Sri Lanka.

Day 08 Yala Morning Safari & Hiriketiya Bay

A second Yala game drive before the drive west along the southern coast to Hiriketiya – the near-perfect horseshoe bay with its jungle-meets-waterline setting, quality surf, and genuinely characterful coastal village atmosphere.

Day 09 Hiriketiya - Surf, Snorkel & Dikwella Coast

A full day in Hiriketiya Bay and the nearby Dikwella coastline – surfing, snorkelling on the reef, swimming, and the easy pleasure of a south coast morning that doesn’t need an agenda.

Day 10 Coastal Drive to Colombo - Galle Lunch Stop

The scenic coastal drive north to Colombo via Galle – a final lunch stop in the Fort before the expressway return to the capital.
